Bill Deakin is undertaking the Joss Naylor Challenge on Saturday 20th August. This involves crossing 30 summits in the Lake District, covering 48 miles (77km) and 17000 feet (4877m) of climbing. Put another way, its nearly 2 marathons long and it goes up (and down) almost 2000 flights of stairs! It’s a bit like climbing Mont Blanc from sea level.
Joss Naylor is a Lakeland farmer and world renowned fell runner. He set the Challenge up in 1990 (aged 54, Joss did it in atrocious weather in 11 hours 30 minutes!), a condition was that challengers should raise at least £100 for charity. Bill has beaten that already but with our help he can raise even more.
Bill is permitted 24 hours to complete the Challenge but has challenged himself to get round in 20 hours. Lets get behind him and help him on his way.
