Welcome to our podCACt!

podCACt - a podcast about CAC
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A podCACt?! Yes, a podCACt – a podcast about CAC! It’s obvious when you think about it! This is a world exclusive (for CAC anyway!) and this first one is a far-reaching discussion. It covers a whole range of topics to do with our charity, as discussed by our Trustee Dominic Oughton and Ambassador Finlay Wild, as well as some of Dom’s personal climbing projects.

CAC Trustee Dom Oughton says: “When I was thinking about expanding the merry band of CAC Athlete Ambassadors a couple of years ago, I was inspired by one of John Ellison‘s favourite phrases: “In Life we are ALL Climbers”.

This had me thinking about fell / ultra running. I immediately reached out to Finlay Wild, who is absolutely at the top of that particular discipline. He’s no mean rock climber and mountaineer either!

Finlay is also a doctor, a general practitioner (how on earth does he manage to fit everything in?!). The link between climbing – and outdoors activities in general – and health seemed like another connection.

Finlay was delighted to get involved as an ambassador (proving again how blessed we are to have our generous ambassadors!) although he warned that he keeps a fairly low media profile. However he did suggest teaming up to record an episode of his “Go Mountain Goats” podcast series.

It took a while for the stars to align, but with Finlay spending the summer in the Lake District, near our CAC offices, we finally managed to meet up for a chat (and to climb a few routes in Thirlmere as a bonus, see pictures above).

Hopefully the podcast will introduce a new set of people to Climbers Against Cancer and our work.

I hope you enjoy listening to our podCACt, many thanks again to Finlay!”

And here it is:

Check out Finlay’s Go Mountain Goats website (as opposed to the Spotify channel). It’s a real feast for the eyes!

What do you think about the podcast format? Should we do more? Drop us a message!

And by the way, we’re hoping to get an audio player working on the website so you can listen to us on the move!
